I finally settled on a bed i think i'd like. it's from It's fairly plain, sure, but put-up-with-able, AND on sale... i nearly bought it last night until i checked out Pottery Barn.

NOTE: i wish i didn't like pottery barn so much, it's really quite embarassing to be so, i don't know, "typical" but what can i do? love the stuff.

anyway, i stumbled onto a Better Bed. something i just really like about this one, and it's on sale too! but dammit, queen-size is only available in disgusting blue antique finish (gimme a break, blue? really?). so i'm disappointed. i sleep on it, then check out the first bed again. it just won't do after seeing the second bed that cannot be mine. but as luck would have it, i found another bed i love! i've loved this bed for a while. i remember it now. but it's not on sale. no, in fact it would be nearly $1,000 with tax and shipping, and special shipping. so, yeah. i really shouldn't spend that kind of money until my credit card is payed off/my savings account is up to $xxxx/I really deserve it. sigh.

THIS is why i still don't have a proper bed after what, nearly 2 years?

that's what one of my newspaper guys (or girls!) wrote in their christmas card... and i couldn't have said it better myself. not that i've actually servered you all this year, but if i had, that's how i would have put it. i love my chirstmas tree. stew even likes it! he said it looked "old timey" :) i want to have "people" over to see it, because what a waste otherwise, but then, who wants to come to my place? borrrring!! but anyway, for the first time in years i'm actually looking foward to christmas. not that i ever really dreaded it (much), or that it's any different this year (although i am switching things up a bit), but it's not the the changes that excite me. no, i think i'm just not as moody as i've been in years past. which i think means i'm aging. yes, losing my drama in my old(er) age. oh, nevermind. i'll shut up. it's probably just because i'm ahead on the shopping AND so far have been able to afford all the presents this year. SO. FAR. not like i'm done yet. but close. how about you? and what do you think of my tree?

so no, i'm really not going to bore ya'll with my daily smoking and drinking stats (read: haven't been as good as i should be). and to answer nancy, yes it's true, i am no fun anymore. although i still drink, just trying not to do the wine every night thing. couple times a week ain't bad, right? and avoiding the den of iniquity that sucks the wallet dry and leaves me feeling completey wicked. instead, on a wild and crazy friday, i sit at home with fire and cat and czech netflix movie (which btw, turned out to be REALLY good!). now it's time for Men In Trees. ahem, i may end up going out after all...

anyway, thanks for coming! i have a survey question. i have decided what i'm going to do, but wondering, regarding Thanksgiving, should i do what i WANT to do (stay home, sleep, read, watch TV) or what i SHOULD do (run down and see mama and grandmama). would it be unforgivably selfish to do the former?

(first time he did it i was expecting him to leave a pile of shit in the hole. but no, just his self.) then, when he was done with that shade bullshit, he'd pull himself out into the sun again with his front paws, nether regions dragging against the rocky sand, as if scratching his balls, or something, and then sleeeeeep and sleep some more in the sun. i assume he slept so much because he was never fed. i also think he was trying to give me relaxation lessons. they almost worked. anyway, have some pictures will try to post to flickr soon, and stories to be transcribed from my travel journal. for now, i'm going to try to figure out how to wind down and go to sleep. (where my mosqueeto net?!?)

sooooo, what didja do for Xmas? (Or Channuka, Kwanzaa, etc)
My nieces had a video camera malfunction during their attempt to catch Santer eating the cookies and milk, on film.
I got a coffee mug with pictures of E and J on it. And a different coffe mug that plugs into cigar lighter in the car to keep coffee warm.
Ella got a phone that looks like the one on The ElectricCompaneeee-uh-eee-ee, that drives around on wheels.
And, no snow. Just rain around these parts. Maybe we'll have a sucessful snowpool in January.

too much work! too little of interest going on in life! that, and amy lost her password, apparently. at least SHE used always write something when no one else would. i'm tired. worked too much today, now catching up with <a href=http://abc.go.com/daytime/theview/">the view (embarassing, yes, but taylor hicks was on today!) and having a glass of wine before bed. with stew's help i rearranged my living room this weekend. it's all cozy and nice although a big fat mess. i have also been neglecting my magazine and newspaper reading. i went through a stack of magazines from my bedroom yesterday and some were from march. march! only a few more stacks to go...

in other news, i visited the nephews yesterday (also neglected) and they were fun as usual. which reminds me of two things. first, a question. do you think it's incredibly hip that a 7-year old listen to Disturbed while he plays video games? i mean, i knew he liked green day but disturbed is so hanson! ;) anyway, i was watching him play and oohing and aahing at his electronic stakeboarding skillz and wondering how the hell he came to like heavy metal music and know all those skate rat moves. HE'S ONLY SEVEN! then i learned what a nose grind is vs. a tail (?) grind but i've forgotten already. kids.

oh, and the other thing was, as i walked past their bedroom where a neighborhood friend was playing with them, i heard one of the boys says "that's the hole where babies come from. that's why it hurts so much" EEK! i just let it go and kept walking.

gotta go, it's craft time with rosie and barbara.
